Trustee Motions

Trustee initiated motions are a way that individual trustees can create leadership and growth for the Board. These motions, if approved, are implemented by the Administration under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent.

Requests for Information: Huff, Sue

  1. 2010/01/12 High School Completion Analysis: Trustee Huff requested that the Administration provide an analysis of the impact of the findings of the Alberta Education High School Completion longitudinal study on the District in the future and in relation to the work on sector reviews.
  2. 2010/01/12 Student Achievement : Trustee Huff requested that information be provided regarding the achievement outcomes for students who have experienced recent school closures pre- and post- closure prior to the Board’s consideration of the sector recommendations for Hardisty and CCEP. (Request was not supported by the majority of the board)
  3. 2010/02/09 Donations for Haiti: information be provided with the total amount of the donations raised by schools for Haiti
  4. 2009/10/13 Restorative Justice: Trustee Huff requested that information be provided regarding how widespread the use of restorative justice is in the district; e.g., the number of principals who use it or who have taken the courses.
  5. 2009/09/22 Creativity and Critical Thinking: Trustee Huff requested that… examples be provided of what is currently happening in schools with respect to teaching creativity, critical thinking and adaptability skills.
  6. 2009/04/10 Audit Committee Participation: Trustee Huff requested that information be provided regarding the pros and cons of having an outside person with a financial background being part of the Audit Committee.
  7. 2009/03/10 Late Buses: Trustee Huff requested that information be provided from the schools that have experienced repeated late buses in terms of an estimation of how many instructional minutes have been lost since September and the plans from those principals on how these lost minutes will be recouped before June. She also asked that any costs schools may incur to make up these mandated minutes also be provided.
  8. 2009/01/27 Stress: Trustee Huff requested that information be provided regarding how stress is impacting the District's disabilities claims and what measures are being taken to address this challenge.
  9. 2009/01/13 1-Hour Ride Time: Trustee Huff requested that information be provided regarding what changes would need to be made to reach our goal of a 1-hour one-way ride time for special education needs students including the cost implications.
  10. 2009/01/13 Out-Of-School Suspensions: Trustee Huff requested that information be provided regarding the recidivism rate of students who have received out-of-school suspensions.
  11. 2009/11/25 Standards Review: Trustee Huff requested, with respect to the response to TT#134, that further information be provided regarding the specifics of how the District addressed the recommendations from the Alberta Education Programming Standards Review.
  12. 2009/11/25 Learning Disabilities: Trustee Huff requested information regarding the implications of instituting a program that would assist with the early intervention and early identification of children with learning disabilities. There were no Trustee objections to this request.
  13. 2008/10/28 Tracking Special Needs Students: Trustee Huff requested that information be provided regarding what mechanisms are in place to track development and success of special needs students.
  14. 2008/10/14 Annual Implementation Plan: Trustee Huff requested information on the status of the annual implementation plan.
  15. 2008/10/14 Life-Threatening Allergies: Trustee Huff requested information regarding work updating policies and regulations regarding life-threatening allergies.
  16. 2008/09/23 In-Camera Meetings: Trustee Huff requested that information be provided prior to the trustee fall retreat regarding Canadian court cases and existing guidelines on the use of in-camera meetings by elected bodies.
  17. 2008/09/23 Staff Shortage: Trustee Huff requested that information be provided for last year and this month regarding the number of times requests for supply teachers or workers could not be fulfilled due to a shortage of staff.
